![Chemically coloured stainless steel. This architectural project was the first to use this metal finish on a large scale. As the colouring interferes with light, the finish may appear black or dark purple depending on the sunlight and angle of view.](https://www.kikukawa.com/en/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2016/08/reiyu-shakaden-big-roof-light.jpg)
This was the first religious architectural project in Japan to utilize the coloured stainless steel on a large scale.
As there was limited know-how on how to control the colour or handle the material, the project materialized after many trials and errors in design, fabrication, and installation.
The products were fabricated in one piece with the molding press thereby giving an impression of an artwork.
